Shantipeeth is a non-profit and non-political voluntary organisation aimed at inculcating and spreading values and ideals based on scientific approach to evolve a single global family without arms of offense, caring for the green Mother Earth and protecting its environmental balance. It is guided by Indian cultural values and ethos which uphold the vital elements of peace, perfection and tranquility.

Shantipeeth, a Rajasthan based NGO headed by Anant Ganesh Trivedi, has for a quarter of a century been working in the field of environmental conservation, peace and disarmament studies and the interaction between science and culture. The organization has mounted several civil society initiatives to serve and improve the environment in and around the historic city of Udaipur. Such social activism is indeed welcome as an adjunct and balance to governmental activities.

Shantipeeth is a voluntary organisation dedicated to the cause of environment and heritage conservation, promotion of human values and education for peace and international understanding. Since its inception in 1984 the organisation has been striving for peace and nuclear disarmament and education of the youth. It has also been actively promoting and stimulating interaction and complementarity between science and Ahimsa.

Shantipeeth visualises how the world society can be completely reorganised on the foundation of eternal human values of love, peace, truth and non-violence. We firmly believe that enlightened citizenship can ensure environmental conservation and nuclear disarmament. We are prepared to counter all the challenges of war mongers who jeopardise the cause of world peace, and we are sure to succeed in our pious and sacred endeavour because we firmly believe that human instincts for sensible survival ultimately override all other tendencies.

Most of the grave and vital challenges and problems we face today, individually, collectively and globally on a scale and of an intensity never known before, have their roots in the frighteningly increasing imbalance between advancement of science and technology and our concern for the true welfare of humankind.

EDUCATION FOR PEACE AND INTERNATIONAL UNDERSTANDING

Shantipeeth has been zealously striving to create awareness for peace and nuclear disarmament especially among the youth since its inception. The organisation has endeavored to educate the youth for peaceful co-existence, world fraternity, human rights and a sense of development as enlightened and responsible citizens since 1986.

Interfaith Dialogue and Communal Harmony

Shantipeeth was established on Shri. Ramkrishna Paramhans Jayanti in 1984. CONSERVATION OF THE UDAIPUR LAKE SYSTEM

Udaipur is known as the city of lakes on the world map. It has three lakes in the upper catchment area, six lakes within its municipal limits and one lake in the down stream and the river Ahar. The Udaipur lake system is so designed that water from one water body enters into the other through channels, link canals and the river Ahar.

Conservation of Hills and Valleys

Hills and mountains surround Udaipur. In order to protect Udaipur and its heritage, there is a great need to conserve its hills and valleys. Chirva Ghata (the famous valley once covered with the Pine) is one of the important valleys around Udaipur. It is located 12 km north east of Udaipur on the National Highway no. 8.

CONSERVATION OF ENVIRONMENT AS A DIVINE HERITAGE

Most parts of the forests in the region had turned barren and many species of fauna & flora were either extinct or threatened. Shantipeeth started a movement to regenerate faith in the environment & cultural heritage and to restore the pristine glory of sacred groves. People came forward to join this movement of restoration work...
